Security Information for subscribers
Time Warner Cable welcomes our users from the Carolinas.

As many of you are already aware, High Speed Internet users have the ability to be "always on" with our product. Many Internet users are finding that their systems are not as secure as they would like and are looking for better ways to keep out the hackers and spammers.

Road Runner Security Scan
Road Runner subscribers may receive a log entry (24.30.218.54) from Road Runner National Security Scan. This is a network scan from Road Runner. Road Runner does not enter any machine or look at any personal information. The purpose of this scan is to locate those subscribers who may be running unsecure proxies, mail servers with open relay enabled, other unauthorized servers, or who may have a Trojan Horse application running.

During this scan all Road Runner subscribers who are found with these security issues, are located and notified as soon as possible. Always be aware of your computer's activity. Becoming a security risk may degrade the Road Runner network which provides service to you.

Road Runner Mail Blocks
Are you being blocked from sending mail to Road Runner customers? Road Runner Mail Blocks is the place to look. You can see if you have been blocked, and how to get removed from the list. Reading the bounce message will tell you the specific reason you were blocked.

Choosing the right Anti-virus
Please be aware that some solutions will not fully protect your or even detect most of the most commonly seen activity from our infected subscribers. For more information, visit here and here. For a complete list of where a specific Anti-Virus program ranks, click here.

For those seeking PC Techs
Please be sure that the technician does one of EACH of the steps below and not just install one program, run it, and charge you for "securing" your computer. This will not secure your system, no matter what "all-in-one" program they may install. See the list above to show you why.
