Detailed Cleaning Steps

You have either been sent to this page because of, or you think that you might be infected by a Trojan Horse, Virus or Worm. We encourage you to follow all of the instructions to clean and secure all computers at your location. You can use the programs we list, or you can use your own programs. Please make sure that you have separate programs for each step as programs that claim to do everything seldom are as good as specialized programs. If you are unable to follow these steps, print off this page and take the computer(s) to a PC Tech and have them professionally cleaned and secured or reformated and secured. If you choose to reformat your PC yourself, make sure to install the patches and security software after it is reformatted so that this problem does not occur again.
If you are unable to finish the cleaning/securing process, please bookmark this page, turn off the computer(s) and do not turn it on until you are able to complete it. Because your computer(s) is(are) infected if you leave your computer(s) on you are putting yourself and other Internet users at risk for infection, Hacker, Identity theft or a DOS attack.

Windows Cleaning

This section gives you links to tools to scan for Trojan Horses, Virus, Worms and Malware. Just like when you are sick, there are different medicines for different illnesses, your computer can become infected with various types of infections and requires various types of security software to provide the widest range of security for your computers. The Quick scan tools, while nice to remove infections should not be relied upon as a full-time anti-virus as they will not protect your computer from getting a virus in the first place.
STEP 1
Combofix
- Download ComboFix click on the ComboFix Download Link or ComboFix Download Link #2 to save the file (when saving file, change name to combo-fix.exe)

| After you have cleaned the computer, you will want to secure it as well so this, or something worse, does not happen in the future.

Windows Updates
- Download all Critical Security Updates and Service Pack 2 from Windows Updates.
- If you want to setup Automatic Updates, follow the instructions.
